On average please allow a week for your test results to come back from the hospital unless your doctor has advised otherwise.
The method by which we give you the results should be discussed with you by the doctor or nurse organising the investigation. Options include offering a choice of telephone consultation, a further appointment or visit, or by letter.
Arranging to receive test results by phone
If the clinician arranges to issue the result by a telephone consultation, we will usually require you to phone in to the surgery to book a telephone consultation appointment with the clinician who has organsied the test on a pre-agreed day.
The receptionist will give you a time for the call back and take a contact telephone number.
Unfortunately clinicians may not always be running to time and we apologise for any inconvenience caused if the call back is late.
Our receptionists are not able to give any results to patients so please don't ask them to.
The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only rgive out test results to the person to whom they relate, unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this information or they are not capable of understanding the results.

Here at Carnewater we aim to offer a service that is friendly and useful to people of all ages. We appreciate that often younger people can feel intimidated or uncomfortable when it comes to talking about health to a doctor or nurse and are looking out to help make this easier.
We thought it would be worth taking a bit of time to tell you what we have on offer. If after reading and using our service you feel there are changes and improvements we can make we would also very much like to hear your suggestions and we promise to listen and hopefully improve. We offer a free confidential advice service for everyone, including under 16s. Confidentiality means that whatever your discuss with the doctor or nurse will not be repeated to anyone unless you give permission to do so. We will not tell your parents, friends or other members of your family if you do not wish us to do so. The only time this may not apply is if you or someone else may be at risk from harm, but we will always try and get your permission first.
WE ARE HERE TO LISTEN NOT TO TELL.
