Appointments are available from 08:10 – 18:00, Monday to Friday.  We also offer pre-bookable appointments on alternate Saturday mornings.

Here at Carnewater Practice, we offer a wide range of appointments at times to suit you and your family.  We do our best to accommodate your requirements where we are able.

Urgent Appointments

If you need to see someone urgently you will always be able to through our on the day duty team, although it may not be your usual doctor or nurse.

Types of Appointments

We offer a mix of appointments, some of which can be booked on the day, and some which can be booked ahead thereby offering a wide choice to help to cater for all our patients’ needs.

Same Day Appointments

Please phone as early as possible if you wish to be seen on the day, and you will normally be offered an appointment the same day. If you wish to see a particular doctor or nurse we will try to accommodate your request, but an alternative will be offered where not possible.

Weekend Appointments

We offer additional appointments, outside our usual opening hours in order to improve access for those of our patients who have commitments during the normal working day which prevent them from being able to attend routine appointments.

We try to ensure that these appointments are only used by those people who really can’t come in at any other time, and we would ask for your co-operation in this. If you can get in during our normal opening time please leave the weekend appointments for those who cannot.

Cancelling Appointments

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make your appointment by cancelling online or by calling the surgery.

Reception Signposting Patients

Why does the receptionist need to ask what’s wrong with me?

The reception staff are members of the practice team and it has been agreed they should ask patients ‘why they need to be seen’. Reception staff are trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that you receive the most appropriate medical care, from the most appropriate health professional, at the most appropriate time.
